This page covers the most common questions we receive about our services, process, customization, and logistics.   • What is a personal chef?

    Great question! A personal chef is a culinary professional who creates customized meals for clients. Many work in their clients’ homes, but at Olive Branch Culinary Services, we cook in our commercial kitchen, providing you the best of both worlds – customized, personal chef meals without the intrusion in your home.

  • Who needs a personal chef?

    Individuals with demanding schedules and limited time for cooking, such as busy business professionals, new parents, working families, seniors, those with specific dietary needs, and people recovering from surgery or illness.

  • How does a personal chef work?

    It’s simple! We offer clients a straightforward service with customizable meal plan packages based on your individual and family needs. Feel free to reach out to us through our Get Started page or by calling us at 415-541-8177. A member of our office team will be happy to assist you.

  • When can you start cooking for me?

    We can start cooking for you as soon as you are ready and your onboarding paperwork is complete. Before we begin, we require all clients to fill out the Client Intake Form. This helps us understand your dietary restrictions, preferences, and any dislikes you may have.

  • Do I have to be home for personal chef meal delivery?

    Not necessarily, though we strongly recommend that someone be available to take the delivery. Most of our clients provide us with access codes or copies of house keys. If we do not have access to your home, we will leave our cooler bag on your porch or doorstep and inform you via text. Please collect your meals as soon as possible, as they should not be left unrefrigerated for longer than 2 hours. Food safety is our priority.

  • Do you provide catering services?

    We don’t focus on large crowd catering, but we do offer small in-home private dining gatherings. See our Private Chef Experiences page for more details on services and pricing.

  • How do your food options compare to frozen foods?

    Frozen foods often contain preservatives and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) that may have an impact on your health. We prioritize your well-being by only using natural and organic ingredients in our cooking.

  • Do you offer vegetarian, vegan, paleo or whole30 options?

    Yes — we offer them all. Please contact us for more information, so we can best help you. You can also view our Specialty Diets page for extended dietary options we offer.

  • Do you perform background checks for your chefs?

    Yes, we do thorough background checks on all of our new chef candidates we hire.

  • What areas do you service?

    We currently service the San Francisco Bay Area and Peninsula. A traveling fee maybe be applied to your bill if we provide services outside of our service area. Soon we will be offering services in Napa and Sonoma Valley County.

  • I have dogs, should they be kenneled when you deliver?

    Yes, we love dogs and want to keep them and our chefs or delivery team members safe.

  • Are personal chef services expensive?

    It depends on your budget and the plan you choose. Hiring a personal chef is a luxury service accessible to anyone with the budget for it. It eliminates the hassle of waiting in line or for food delivery. We take care of all the custom weekly menu planning for you, ensuring your food is cooked, labeled, and stored in your fridge, ready to eat!

  • Are you insured?

    Yes. We are fully insurance and bonded as a personal chef company via The Hartford.

  • Will you sign a non-disclosure agreement?

    If applicable, yes absolutely! We respect you and your privacy.

  • Could I buy your services for someone else?

    Absolutely! You can purchase an E-Gift Card. We use Square Capital, LLC as a third party vendor for our gift card service. Physical cards will become available for purchase in late summer or early fall.

  • Can I cancel service anytime? What is your policy?

    The great thing about our company is that we have a very low commitment to entry. After your second week of service, you may cancel, pause, and resume service at any time with at least 11 days advance notice. Any notice given less than 11 days before service will result in a $95.00 cancellation fee, which will be applied to your next cook day bill.

  • How do payments work?

    For your convenience, we ask that you provide a credit or debit card on file to automatically process all payments for service. A 3.5% processing fee applies. Payment for service is taken a week in advance of your scheduled delivery date.
